Crosscreek Community Market tonight!! Come visit our vendors and have dinner with Off The Hook Food Truck, 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm. Good veggies are coming in now for those who like fresh off the farm taste!

This is our last week to collect food items to be delivered to Shelby Emergency Assistance. Non-perishable, kid-friendly items are needed during the summer months when kids are out of school. The main thing is to think about what kids like to eat and what parents can easily prepare when they get home from work.

Wacky Wednesdays for children and youth every week through July 2. This week’s Wacky Wednesday theme is BUBBLE BLAST! We will enjoy an evening of games and activities that involve….bubbles. :) This shouldn’t be messy but will be popping with fun!

We have another opportunity to minister to the women of Pathways, a United Way Agency that helps homeless women and children in the Birmingham area. Our Yarn Ministry is offering knitting and crocheting lessons to some of the women. In addition, Jill Hudson and Pam Alford will be teaching some of the ladies how to sew. We would like to enlist your help in both of these endeavors. If you would like to purchase yarn or supplies for the Yarn Ministry, please contact Janica Carter to see what is needed. I can speak for the sewing ministry. We have had money given to purchase at least one sewing machine (can get one at Hancock’s for approximately $100) for use at Pathways. Pathways has also provided money for us to purchase a second machine. We also need donations of fabric for pillow cases, thread, scissors, etc. If you would like to participate in the sewing class, we will be going to Pathways for a one our class on Tuesday, June 24, July 8 and July 15. Classes will be at 1:00 pm. Please let Pam or Jill know if you are interested in participating.

Crosscreek Community Market has been cancelled for tonight due to the uncertainty of the weather!!!

During the month of June, Crosscreek will be collecting food items to be delivered to Shelby Emergency Assistance. Though the goal of Shelby Emergency Assistance is helping their clients achieve self-sufficiency, they often have to begin by meeting immediate needs. One of the ways they do that is through food assistance, which becomes difficult over the summer months as their inventory dwindles.

Karen Pendleton had this to say about their needs this summer:

The foods we need most during the summer months are what we call "Kid Friendly" foods -
Cereal
Oatmeal
Pop Tarts
Mac ‘N Cheese
Peanut Butter Crackers
Canned Meals like Spaghetti-O’s, Ravioli, etc.
Spaghetti Sauce
Pasta
Hamburger Helper
Tuna Fish
Juice
Canned Fruit
Boxes of Jello

The main thing is to think about what kids like to eat and what parents can prepare when they get home from work.

Our Passportchoices! campers will be leaving for camp on Sunday morning, June 15, at 7:00 am. Please join our encouragers in praying for these young people this week. Also, a big thank you to all of our encouragers who made care packages for the campers!! I’m sure of all the treats your prayers will influence their week more than anything else.

Soloists Needed!! Do you have a song you would like to sing or an instrument you would like to play for worship one Sunday? This summer is the perfect time to share your musical gifts with the people of Crosscreek! While the choir takes a much-deserved summer break, we would love to hear from YOU this summer. If you haven’t already signed up, you may sign up for any of the following dates by emailing or calling Dixie Ford (205-937-7322; email address: emaildixie ): June 22, June 29, July 6, and July 20.

It’s PASSPORT time for our youth!! We have a lot of kids going to camp this summer. The team leaves for camp on Sunday, June 15 (at 7:00 am), and they will return on Friday, June 20. We would like to show our support for these young people by sending ‘care packages’ along with each of them. The packages should have a short note for the camper each day, gifts of gum, candy, or whatever comes to your mind that you think a young person would like to open while away at camp. I can assure you that these packages from our church family are very well received and add another bright spot to our campers’ day. We still need 4 more folks to volunteer to make a package for one of our kids. These are our campers:

Dion Bradley
Emma Kieve
Jada Parker

Milligan Burroughs
Neal Peete

Please give me a call at the church or email me at secretary. Help us let these kids know how much they mean to us.

I know that it will surprise everyone to know that there was an error in the bulletin on Sunday morning. The area where the meal for the week is listed indicated that there would be a free meal and lively discussion afterward!! That will not happen because we’ve already done that!! Please do plan on coming anyway. The meal will be spaghetti, salad bar, and dessert, and it only cost $4.00 for an adult.

We have 10 campers this year so I would like to ask that 10 of our members commit to creating a package for one camper each.
